Home Programmes A Healthy Body. A Healthy Mind.
A healthy mind in a healthy body is the key to all-round development, and there is a wide range of co-curricular activities at CLIS to ensure this. Some activities are run during the lunch hour and others take place after School, at special or designated times. We encourage all pupils to take advantage of as many activities as possible. We expect all pupils to involve themselves in at least one co-curricular activity each term. We believe skills development should be embedded in academic programmes, rather than an add-on, to give students the best chance of shaping their future.
Our STEAM (or STEM + Art) Club offers a lot of activities including an artistic or creative element, in addition to one or more of the traditional STEM subjects. For example, meetings could include creating art using STEM tools, or creating an engineering project. It could be… any number of things really. The key is that it crosses the curriculum and encourages our students to think critically.
STEAM is a more engaging way to integrate and combine the concepts of science, technology, engineering, art, and math with a more hands-on approach.
Ballet lessons are a wonderful way for kids to reap the health benefits of dance as well as learn self-discipline and body control. Ballet is a more structured dancing lesson focusing on developing physical skills, musicality and performance by imaginative stories on board the ‘Ballet Train’. Music and Movement offers a more creative outlet with child led tasks.
Our ballet classes hold every Tuesday and Wednesday. Pupils get to learn Ballet and Music and Movement. By learning the art of movement, we hope to inspire a sense of physical and mental confidence and foster a respect for the arts.
Our students are introduced to the wonderful world of music with piano lessons! Students will meet once a week with a trained, expert musician to learn the fundamentals of playing the piano, including proper hand position, getting to know the keys, understanding rhythm, and much more.
Students will learn by seeing and doing, so access to a piano or keyboard is guaranteed.
Our Taekwon-Do club is an amazing co-curricular club for our children. As a physical contact activity with all safety measures in place, Taekwon-Do helps promote discipline and focus. It also helps children develop agility, balance, coordination and speed. It improves their movement quality, stamina and promotes the long-term athletic development of a child. Our Taekwon-Do club also provides a friendly, welcoming atmosphere, an ideal setting for children to meet and make friends.:
